Comprehensive Security Arrangements Finalized Across Punjab for Good Friday and Easter

Over 30,000 Personnel Deployed Across Punjab; Snipers and Commandos Placed on Alert at Key Locations

Punjab Police Intensifies Security Measures and Search Operations, Emphasizes Interfaith Harmony

Additional IG Operations Punjab Muhammad Ali Naikokara chaired a video link meeting held at Central Police Office to review security and traffic arrangements for Good Friday and Easter. The meeting was attended by all RPOs, DIGs, SSP Operations Lahore, and other relevant officers. The RPOs briefed on security and traffic plans in their respective regions. Additional IG Operations Punjab said that, according to the instructions issued by IG Punjab, entry to churches should be allowed only after thorough checking and verification of identity of all individuals. Community volunteers should remain vigilant alongside police personnel and keep a close watch on suspicious individuals and activities. The meeting also emphasized that prior to Good Friday and Easter, search, sweep, and combing operations should be intensified, and monitoring of suspicious elements should continue through door-to-door checks. Extra attention should be paid to Fitna-e-Khawarij and other miscreant elements.

Furthermore, close coordination with Safe City Authority and district administrations was instructed to ensure continuous monitoring of religious events. Officers were directed to remain in contact with church administrations, Christian community leaders, and scholars of other faiths to promote interfaith harmony. Punjab Police spokesperson said that a comprehensive and integrated security plan has been finalized to provide full and effective security to the Christian community during Good Friday and Easter, and security has been put on high alert. Strict security arrangements will be ensured during religious events in all districts, with senior officers present in the field for monitoring.

The spokesperson further said that over 30,000 police officers and personnel will be deployed across the province for security duties. For 2,270 Good Friday programs, over 13,000 personnel will be deployed, while for 3,153 Easter programs, more than 17,000 officers and personnel will be on duty. In Lahore alone, over 5,000 officers and personnel will perform security duties. Additional IG Operations Punjab said that at sensitive churches, parks, cemeteries, Christian localities, and other key locations, snipers and commandos will be deployed along with additional personnel. The Dolphin Force, PRU, and Elite Force will ensure effective patrolling. Checking at city entry and exit points will be intensified. He also said that no officer should leave their duty point until the conclusion of Easter prayers and events.
