Only through aggressive policing, crime could be eliminated from Lahore and it could be made prohibited area for criminals, dacoits and cruels. In the metropolitan city, law and order would be maintained at any cost so that the relief could be provided to Lahorits and for this purpose coward, corrupt and dishonest officers/officials would be terminated from the Police Department.
This was stated by Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mohammad Habib-ur-Rehman while addressing to a law and order review meeting held at Police Lines, Qila Gujjar Singh today. CCPO, Lahore, Aslam Tareen, DIG Operations, Lahore Rai Muhammad Tahir, all Divisional SPs and DSPs were present in the meeting.
Provincial Police Chief had delegated the administrative powers to CCPO, Lahore relating to take any kind of disciplinary action against those police officers/officials who founded to be guilty in discharging their professional duties. He further directed that 100 percent results are required to control the crime situation in the city.
Mohammad Habib-ur-Rehman gave one month’s time to complete the installation of tracking system in police vehicles. He further directed that like whole province, the decision of ban on weapons display would be strictly implemented in Lahore and no pressure, influence and approach should be accepted in this regard, added the IGP.
IGP asked the CCPO to monitor the performance of officers/officials through Special Branch and Citizen Feed Back System and no concession should be given to those involved in any kind of negligence. He further said that only female officers/officials should be appointed in reporting rooms of Lahore Police Stations. He said that, to review the crime data of Lahore he will regularly hold a monthly meeting with the Police Officers of Lahore. On this occasion, all SPs of Lahore Region briefed the IGP regarding the law and order and crime situation of their respective divisions.
Later, addressing to the Police Officers and Jawans at a Police Darbar, IGP took oath from all Lahore Police Force that they would not accept bribe, would provide justice to the people and fight against crime. IGP also thanked the media persons for extending their extraordinary cooperation towards police department.
