Punjab Police ensured foolproof security for Jumuat-ul-Wida and Youm-e-Quds rallies.
Over 83,000 personnel were deployed to provide security for more than 32,500 mosques and places of worship across the province.
Over 25,000 police officers and personnel performed security duties at 136 Youm-e-Quds rallies.
On the directions of Inspector General Police Punjab Abdul Kareem, officers and personnel of Punjab Police performed their security duties across the province on high alert on the occasion of Jumuat-ul-Wida prayers and Youm-e-Quds. Spokesperson Punjab Police, while sharing details, said that more than 83,000 police officers, personnel and community volunteers were deployed for the security of over 32,500 mosques, Imambargahs and places of worship across the province including Lahore. On the occasion of Youm-e-Quds, more than 25,000 officers and personnel performed duties for the security of 136 rallies taken out across the province. Across the province, 15 rallies of A category, 22 of B category, while 99 of C category were taken out.
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem directed that full security should be provided for Jumuat-ul-Wida prayers and Youm-e-Quds rallies. In view of the western border situation, strict surveillance should be maintained on terrorists, miscreants and suspicious individuals, while security of mosques, places of worship, police posts, foreign embassies, sensitive places and important installations should be further enhanced. Dolphin Squad, PRU and Elite teams carried out effective patrolling around religious and sensitive places and markets, while continuous monitoring of mosques, places of worship, markets and sensitive locations was ensured with the help of CCTV cameras.
IG Punjab further directed that search and combing operations should be continued to counter Fitna Al-Khawarij and Fitna Al-Hindustan, while personnel deployed at entry and exit points of cities and inter-provincial check posts should remain extremely vigilant. He said that RPOs and DPOs should remain in continuous contact with mosques, members of peace committees and organizers. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem said that religious scholars and spiritual leaders should promote interfaith harmony, brotherhood and peace. He further said that peaceful observance of the holy month of Ramadan is being ensured with the cooperation of citizens. IG Punjab directed that major markets and public places should be provided with comprehensive security, particularly security arrangements around mosques, places of worship and religious gatherings should be further tightened.
