Punjab Police ensured High Alert security on Third Friday of Ramadan
Over 83,000 Police Officers and Personnel Deployed to Secure More Than 32,000 Mosques and Places of Worship Across the Province
Security Tightened in View of Western Border Situation; Strict Vigil on Suspicious Individuals: IG Punjab Abdul Kareem
Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem has issued orders to maintain security on high alert across the province, including Lahore, on the occasion of the third Friday of Ramadan. He said that in view of the western border situation, strict vigilance should be maintained on terrorist and miscreant elements as well as suspicious individuals, and security at sensitive locations should be made more effective. IG Punjab directed that security be increased at mosques, imambaras, other places of worship, police posts, Chinese and foreign embassies, and other sensitive installations. Punjab Police spokesperson said that to secure more than 32,500 mosques, imambaras, and places of worship across the province, including Lahore, over 83,000 police officers, personnel, and community volunteers have been deployed.
IG Punjab said that Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit, and Elite Force teams should increase patrolling around religious and sensitive sites, while monitoring of mosques, places of worship, and key locations should be ensured with the help of CCTV cameras. He added that search and combing operations should be accelerated to keep strict vigilance on Fitna-e-Khawarij and Fitna-e-Hindustan. IG Punjab further directed that police personnel deployed at city entry and exit points and inter-provincial checkpoints remain on high alert and ensure strict monitoring of suspicious individuals and activities.
