Chief Minister Punjab’s Directions: Police Digital Services for Citizens to be Expanded

Further Improvements in Online Citizen Services through the Pakistan Police App Under Consideration

Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kaeem, chaired an important meeting at the Central Police Office where progress on police IT projects and digitalization initiatives was reviewed in detail. On the directions of the Chief Minister Punjab, various proposals to enhance police IT facilities for citizens were considered during the meeting. During the meeting, the MD Safe Cities and DIG IT gave a detailed briefing to the IG Punjab regarding the ongoing police digitalization projects and the improvement of IT platforms. In the briefing, it was shared that the scope of digital citizen services under the Pakistan Police App is being further expanded so that maximum facilities can be provided to citizens online.

IG Punjab Abdul Kareem, while issuing instructions, said that under the Chief Minister Initiative, police rules should be updated and further improvement should be made in IT platforms so that better and faster services can be provided to citizens through modern technology. Punjab Police spokesperson said that through Police Khidmat Marakaz, arrangements are being made to enable the registration of online missing reports for citizens and the tracking of matters related to investigation. In addition, in collaboration with NADRA, the facility for online verification of National Identity Cards, passports, educational certificates and other important documents will also be provided. Punjab Police spokesperson further said that through the new digital facilities, citizens will be able to obtain information about missing reports, FIRs and the basic status of investigations from home and they will not need to visit police stations for minor matters. The meeting was attended by Additional IG Investigation, Additional IG Logistics and Procurement, Additional IG Operations, MD Safe Cities, DIG Traffic, DIG Logistics and Procurement and AIG IT along with other senior officers.
