Deportation of Illegal Foreign Nationals Accelerated; Search and Sweep Operations Intensified Across Punjab
Citizens Advised to Remain Cautious of Rumors; Punjab Police Prepared to Handle Any Situation. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem
Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem chaired a video link meeting at the Central Police Office to review security arrangements across the province, in view of the western and internal border situation and the second Friday of the holy month of Ramadan. IG Punjab directed a high security alert across the province, including Lahore and Rawalpindi, and ordered that security at mosques, worship places, markets, commercial centers, police check posts, key installations, Chinese and other foreign embassies, and sensitive locations be further strengthened.
IG Punjab instructed RPOs, CPOs, and DPOs to personally assess the security of mosques, worship places, and key installations, while security at inter-provincial police check posts, police stations, offices, and law enforcement buildings should also be enhanced. He further said that the safety of Chinese experts, foreign residents’ accommodations, workplaces, and their movement should be ensured. A comprehensive security order is to be formulated in consultation with police officers, the Special Branch, CTD, and other security agencies.
IG Punjab ordered the acceleration of the deportation campaign for all illegal foreign nationals, including Afghans and other migrants, and directed that intelligence-based search, sweep, and combing operations be extended to inter-provincial border areas. He also ordered continuous monitoring of markets, commercial centers, and sensitive locations with the help of Safe City cameras, and strict implementation of Section 144 in conjunction with the government’s use of drones.
IG Punjab said that terrorists, miscreants, and suspicious individuals should be closely monitored to protect the country’s internal borders. Search and sweep operations against elements of Fitnah-ul-Khawarij and Fitnah-ul-Hindustan should continue. He emphasized that every officer of Punjab Police stands shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces and security agencies to protect the country and nation, and that security, law and order, and relief activities will be ensured in any emergency situation. IG Punjab appealed to citizens not to pay attention to fabricated rumors and unverified messages on social media. The meeting was attended via video link by CCPO Lahore, Additional IG South Punjab, Additional IG CTD, Additional IG Special Branch, all RPOs, CPOs, and DPOs, while Additional IG PHP Faisal Ali Raja, DIG IT Mansoor-ul-Haq, AIG Operations, AIG Development, and AIG Admin were present at the meeting.
