Punjab Police Continues Housing Aid for Families of Pre-2017 Martyrs

IG Punjab distributed additional cheques worth Rs 5 million

Punjab Police to Finance 200 New Homes for Pre-2017 Martyrs’ Families This Year

Under the leadership of Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem, Punjab Police is continuing practical measures for the welfare and well-being of the families of police martyrs prior to 2017. In this regard, a ceremony was held at the Central Police Office Lahore for distribution of financial assistance cheques for the construction of houses among the families of police martyrs. Punjab Police spokesperson while giving details, said that during the ceremony, cheques of Rs 500,000 each were distributed for the construction of houses to the families of 10 police martyrs belonging to Lahore and Sheikhupura. On this occasion, IG Punjab distributed additional cheques amounting to a total of Rs 5 million for the construction of houses for the families of police martyrs. Cheques for funds for the construction of houses will be distributed to the families of 46 more police martyrs through the concerned RPOs and DPOs.

Addressing the ceremony, IG Punjab Abdul Kareem said that this year funds will be provided for the construction of 200 new houses for the families of police martyrs prior to 2017. He said that each family will be given Rs 2.5 million by Punjab Police for the construction of houses. He further said that plots have already been provided to the families of 737 police martyrs prior to 2017 for the construction of houses, while Punjab Police has so far provided Rs 120 million from its own resources for the construction of houses for the families of martyrs.

IG Punjab said that 29 families of police martyrs have completed the construction of their houses from the Punjab Police Endowment Fund. He said that police martyrs are our pride and addressing the difficulties of their families is the top priority of Punjab Police. Additional IG Punjab Imran Arshad, DIG Welfare and Finance Zeeshan Asghar, DIG IT Mansoor-ul-Haq Rana, AIG Welfare Nasir Ali Bajwa and other senior police officers attended the ceremony.
