LAHORE : Punjab Police have further intensified search, sweep and combing operations across the province, including Lahore, to ensure protection of citizens during the holy month of Ramazan. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, a total of 337 search operations were conducted across the province during the last 24 hours. During these operations, 9,597 individuals were questioned and 15 criminals were taken into custody. The spokesperson added that so far this year, 17,742 search operations have been conducted across Punjab, during which more than 726,000 individuals were questioned and 2,093 criminals were arrested. During the operations, police recovered 37 rifles, 397 pistols, 62 guns and a large quantity of bullets from the possession of suspects. IG Punjab Abdul Karim directed that search, sweep and combing operations against anti-state and criminal elements should continue without interruption. He also stressed making door-knocking operations more effective to curb terrorists and miscreants.
