34th Anniversary of 7 Police Officers and Officials Who Embraced Martyrdom in an Encounter with Dacoits.

IG Punjab Abdul Kareem paid rich tribute to brave police martyrs.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem paid tribute to the police martyrs on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of seven officers and officials who attained martyrdom during an encounter with dacoits in Gujranwala. He said that the memory of these great sons of the soil, who laid down their lives for the protection of citizens’ lives and properties, will always remain alive in our hearts. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem said that Punjab Police is the custodian force of more than 1,700 martyrs and their eternal sacrifices will never be forgotten. He said that every soldier of Punjab Police is serving as a frontline force in safeguarding the country and the nation and in the fight against crime and terrorism.

IG Punjab further said that the best possible welfare of the families of police martyrs is the foremost priority of Punjab Police, and all available resources are being utilized to ensure the well-being of the martyrs’ families. Punjab Police spokesperson said that on this day in 1992, seven officers and officials of Punjab Police embraced martyrdom while performing their duties in Gujranwala. Those martyred included 02 Sub-Inspectors, 01 Head Constable, and 04 Constables. The martyrs included Sub-Inspectors Farooq Khan and Saif Ullah, Head Constable Khuda Dad, and Constables Muhammad Azam, Muhammad Afzal, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Muhammad Arshad.
