Historic Success in Katcha Operation: More than 577 Criminals Surrender. No Kidnapping Incident in Three Months, Atmosphere of Fear Eliminated from Katcha۔ Declaration of War Against Those Refusing to Lay Down Arms; State Writ Will Be Ensured at All Costs: IG Punjab Abdul Kareem.
Inspector General of Punjab Police Abdul Kareem said that as a result of effective and uninterrupted operations by Punjab Police in the Katcha area, more than 577 dangerous criminals and dacoits have so far laid down their arms, while a declaration of war has been made against those who refuse to surrender and challenge the writ of the state. He made it clear that the police are not waiting for anyone to surrender and are continuing operations with full force to ensure the establishment of peace. IG Punjab expressed these views while speaking to the media during his detailed inspection of the Katcha areas as part of his visit to South Punjab. During his visit to Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur, he toured police camps, check posts, and forward posts established in the Katcha areas, where he also observed practical demonstrations of security arrangements, deployment of personnel, weapons and ammunition, and surveillance through drone and thermal technology. On this occasion, Additional IG South Punjab Muhammad Kamran Khan, RPO Bahawalpur Ghazi Muhammad Salahuddin, RPO Dera Ghazi Khan Azhar Akram, DPO Rahim Yar Khan Irfan Ali Samo, DPO Rajanpur Muhammad Imran, and other senior officers were also present.
IG Punjab said that under the special instructions and vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, police operations in Katcha are continuing without interruption. As a result of these actions, fear and terror have been eliminated from the area, and no kidnapping incident has been reported during the past three months, which is evidence of the joint efforts of the police and other law enforcement agencies. He said that the valuable blood of police martyrs is part of the successes achieved in the Katcha operation and they will never be forgotten. The law and order situation will be maintained at all costs, and additional constructions, police camps, check posts, and posts will be completed in the Katcha area according to operational requirements. A comprehensive and effective strategy is also being formulated for the future, which will yield positive results. Earlier, the RPO Bahawalpur gave a detailed briefing to the IG Punjab on the Katcha operation, rehabilitation program, and overall law and order situation. It was briefed that during police encounters, 68 dacoits were killed, 97 were arrested in injured condition, while more than 216 dangerous dacoits, including 15 criminals carrying head money, surrendered. Furthermore, several Katcha criminals were also killed or arrested in encounters.
During his visit to Rajanpur, IG Punjab met with police personnel deployed at various posts, had a meal with them, and appreciated their high morale, professional competence, and bravery. He directed that comprehensive and effective measures be taken for the welfare of police employees deployed in the Katcha area. IG Punjab said that as a result of the successful Katcha operation, a new era of restoration of peace and stability has begun. Government of Punjab has also announced a special relief package for improvement in education, health, and basic infrastructure in the Katcha area. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem reaffirmed his resolve that in accordance with the vision of the Chief Minister Punjab, the Katcha area will be transformed into a complete haven of peace, where wherever crime occurs, the police will fulfill their responsibilities, and the writ of the state will be ensured at all costs.
