IG Punjab Abdul Kareem’s Direct Interaction with Citizens; Personally Reviewed Complaints at 1787 Complaint Center

Zero-Tolerance Policy on Delay in FIR Registration and Misconduct; Immediate Action Directed to RPOs and DPOs

Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, while continuing the process of direct engagement with citizens, spoke to citizens by phone at the 1787 Complaint Center and conducted a detailed review of received applications and complaints. The IG Punjab inquired from citizens about police actions, conduct, and progress on their applications, and issued immediate instructions to the relevant officers. The spokesperson for Punjab Police, while sharing the details, stated that on the request of a citizen from Lahore regarding the registration of a case, the IG Punjab directed the SP Saddar Operations Lahore to immediately contact the applicant and take legal action. On a complaint from a citizen of Sargodha regarding delay in FIR registration, the RPO Sargodha was instructed to provide immediate redress. On the application of a citizen from Wazirabad, the RPO Gujranwala was ordered to ensure registration of the FIR. On a complaint by a woman citizen from Jhang regarding non-registration of an FIR, the RPO Faisalabad was directed to provide immediate relief.

Issuing clear instructions, IG Punjab Abdul Kareem stated that RPOs and DPOs must take prompt and effective action on citizens’ applications. Strict departmental action will be taken against unnecessary delays in FIR registration and poor investigation, and no leniency will be shown in cases of misconduct with citizens. He further said that complaints received through the CM Complaint Management System, PM Portal, 1787, and all other channels must be resolved promptly in accordance with prescribed timelines and SOPs. IG Punjab appealed to citizens to register their complaints at the 1787 Complaint Center in case of any irregularity or misconduct by police personnel. On this occasion, Additional IG IAB Imran Mehmood, DIG IAB Ahmad Nasir Aziz Virk, AIG Inspection Shaista Nadeem, and other officers were also present.
