IG Punjab Abdul Kareem visits Investigation Headquarters Punjab, stresses modern reforms

Video monitoring of all 747 police stations across Punjab, review of Surveillance Cell operations

Focus on quality and effective investigation of cases involving women, children, harassment and violence under the vision of the Chief Minister Punjab, IG Punjab

Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, visited the Investigation Headquarters Punjab. Additional IG Investigation Shahzada Sultan and senior officers received the IG Punjab. Additional IG Investigation Punjab Shahzada Sultan gave a detailed briefing to the IG Punjab regarding the challenges faced by the Investigation Wing, administrative matters, ongoing reform initiatives, and service delivery. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem inspected various sections including the Monitoring Cell, Fingerprints Bureau, and the under-construction Khidmat Markaz (Service Center). He also visited the modern Surveillance Video Cell established on the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The IG Punjab reviewed the process of video monitoring of all 747 police stations across the province through the Surveillance Cell. Additional IG Investigation Shahzada Sultan informed that through the Surveillance Cell, continuous monitoring is being carried out of police stations’ front desks, SHO and Moharrar rooms, lock-ups, and other sections. He further briefed that police station record management and investigation systems are being upgraded on modern lines to make the investigation process effective, transparent, and reliable.

IG Punjab obtained a detailed briefing on the quality of investigations, timely completion of challans, and prosecution-related matters. He said that re-structuring the investigation system in accordance with new crime trends and modern investigative requirements is essential to ensure punishment for criminals. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem said that the infrastructure, investigation system, and digitalized data systems of Investigation Headquarters Punjab will be further improved and modernized. In line with the vision of the Chief Minister Punjab, he directed special focus on quality and effective investigation of cases involving women, child abuse, harassment, and violence. He also instructed that coordination and consultation between investigation officers, prosecution, and the judiciary should be made more effective. On this occasion, DIG Investigation Shoaib Khurram Janbaz, AIG Monitoring Asim Iftikhar Kamboh, SSP Admin Bushra Nisar, SPs of the Investigation Branch, and other officers were also present.
