IG Punjab Abdul Kareem Reviews Police Performance Through Direct Citizen Feedback through 1787 Complaint Center

On the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, and under the commitment to improve police behavior with citizens and ensure immediate redressal, Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem has initiated direct contact with citizens through the 1787 Complaint Center. IG Punjab spoke with several citizens via phone calls and personally obtained information about the duration of redressal of received applications and complaints, police response, and overall conduct. Citizens also shared their feedback regarding the actions taken and responses by the police. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem directed RPOs, DPOs, and other supervisory officers to take immediate action on citizens’ applications and provide relief without delay. He made it clear that immediate action will be taken against responsible officials on complaints related to registration of cases, delay in investigation, or misconduct with citizens.
IG Punjab further directed that all complaints received via phone calls, SMS, email, and other channels be resolved immediately in accordance with the prescribed timelines and SOPs. He urged citizens to register complaints on 1787 in case of any irregularity or misconduct by the police force. IG Punjab said that transparent and impartial accountability will lead to improved performance of the police force and better public behavior. On the occasion, IG Punjab Abdul Kareem received a detailed briefing on the 1787 dashboard and complaints from across the regions. During the briefing, Additional IG Punjab Imran Arshad, Additional IG Internal Accountability Imran Mehmood, Additional IG Logistics Fawad-ud-Din Qureshi, AIG Inspection, AIG Operations Punjab, and other officers were also present.
