Security arrangements for the three-day Basant Festival in Lahore completed, IG Punjab

 

 

 

Inspector General of Police Punjab, Rao Abdul Kareem, visited Mochi Gate in Lahore on the occasion of the three-day Basant Festival to review the security arrangements in detail. DIG Operations Lahore, Muhammad Faisal Kamran, and other senior police officers accompanied the IG Punjab. DIG Operations Lahore briefed the IG Punjab on the security arrangements, deployment of personnel, and monitoring measures put in place for the Basant Festival. IG Punjab Rao Abdul Kareem instructed Lahore Police to ensure full compliance with government regulations and SOPs to maintain a safe environment during the Basant Festival. He stated that Punjab Police had made complete preparations for a secure Basant in Lahore. The IG Punjab said that so far 1,600 cases have been registered under the Kite Flying Act for violations. Over 10,000 police officers and personnel have been deployed for Basant Festival security duties, and additional traffic personnel have been deployed considering the expected large influx of visitors from other cities.

 

He further stated that Lahore has been divided into three zones for security management, and the law will take strict action without exception against the use of metallic and chemical strings or any other violation of government regulations. To make security more effective, surveillance through drones and CCTV cameras has been initiated. Citizens are advised to follow the law, as violations will face strict consequences. No one will find a relaxed environment, and robust measures have been put in place according to the situation. He added that under the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, citizens are being fully informed about Basant SOPs. IG Punjab appealed to the public to fully comply with SOPs and cooperate with the police to ensure a safe Basant.
