2,234 accused arrested for violating Anti-Kite Flying Act; thousands of kites and strings recovered
Bloody games will not be tolerated; zero-tolerance policy strictly enforced: IG Punjab
Punjab Police, under a zero-tolerance policy, continue robust and effective operations across the province, including Lahore, against metallic strings and kite flying, in violation of the Anti-Kite Flying Act. Punjab Police spokesperson said that so far this year, 2,234 accused have been arrested across the province, including Lahore, for violating the Anti-Kite Flying Act, and 2,210 cases have been registered. During these operations, 152,808 kites and 3,148 reels of string were recovered. During the crackdown in the provincial capital Lahore, 1,020 accused were arrested, cases registered, and 35,547 kites along with 860 reels of string were seized.
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, stressed that kite flying will not be tolerated anywhere in the province. In case of violations, strict legal action will be taken without exception. He added that even in Lahore, Basant is permitted only on specific days under government regulations and laws, while metallic strings and illegal kite flying are completely prohibited. IG Punjab directed that strict legal action should also be taken against those involved in the online business of metallic strings and kites. He appealed to parents to keep their children away from this bloody game and discourage any illegal activity. Dr. Usman Anwar also urged citizens that in case of kite flying or the use of metallic strings at any location, they should immediately report to the Police Helpline 15, demonstrating responsible citizenship. Punjab Police continue uninterrupted operations against kite flying to protect public life and properties and uphold the rule of law.
