LAHORE - Punjab Police have released additional funds amounting to Rs 2.06 million for the medical treatment of police employees, retired personnel, and their families. Punjab IGP Dr Usman Anwar approved the release of the funds after scrutiny by the Medical Financial Assistance Committee. The financial assistance covers treatment for serious and chronic illnesses under the police welfare programme. According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, Rs0.5 million was released for the medical treatment of the widow of late DSP Tahir Zain-ul-Abideen. ASI Shahid Ali and Constable M Asif were each provided Rs0.2m for heart-related treatment. Sub Inspectors Shair Ahmad and Shakeel Ahmad, and Constables Kashif Javed, Imtiaz Iqbal, and Azhar Rehmat received Rs0.1 million each. Similarly, SP Asghar Malik, retired Inspector Muhammad Akram, and Head Constable M Asif were also granted Rs0.1m each.
ASIs Muhammad Jahangir and Amjad Ali, along with Constable Zohaib Ullah, were provided a total of Rs0.205 million, while retired DSP Muhammad Akbar Khan and ASI Mubashir Abbas received Rs0.155 million for medical treatment. IGP Dr Usman Anwar said the force is providing the best possible healthcare facilities to its employees and their families through memoranda of understanding with various healthcare institutions. He added that police welfare remains a top priority of the department. He added that during the past year, the Central Police Office and district police formations spent nearly Rs7.75 billion on police welfare, with more than Rs27 million being spent daily on the welfare of police personnel and their families.
