LAHORE: Twenty-four more highly wanted dacoits belonging to various criminal gangs laid down their arms and surrendered during a police operation in Rajanpur on Saturday. Rajanpur Police are continuing a full-scale and effective operation against dacoits in Katcha Umrani, Sukhani and Karachi areas. According to Punjab Police spokesperson, during the police operation, drone-assisted shelling is being carried out on the hideouts of dacoits, which has created an intense fear among criminal elements. Among those who surrendered is notorious Sadri Lund, who was carrying a head money of Rs10 million. The spokesperson said so far, six dacoits carrying a head money of Rs10m each had surrendered to the police, while the total number of surrendered dacoits had reached 211.
Rajanpur District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Imran said the arrested dacoits were wanted in dozens of cases involving kidnapping, murder, robbery and other heinous crimes. He said these dacoits would be awarded strict punishment in accordance with the law. The DPO said during police action, 30 hideouts and bunkers of the dacoits were completely destroyed, while an intense exchange of fire was continuing between the police and the dacoits. Punjab IG Dr Usman Anwar appreciated the performance of Rajanpur Police for their successful actions against Katcha criminals.
