Punjab Police Step Up Action Against Metallic String and Kite Flying
357 accused arrested, over 30,000 kites recovered in just 18 days.

Punjab Police is carrying out effective and robust operations across the province against metallic string and kite flying, enforcing a zero-tolerance policy for violations of the Anti-Kite Flying Act.
Punjab Police spokesperson while sharing details, said that during the first 18 days of the current year, 357 accused were arrested and 360 cases were registered across the province including Lahore for violations of the Anti-Kite Flying Act. During the operations, 30,774 kites and 676 spools of string were recovered. During the crackdown in the provincial capital Lahore, 107 accused were arrested, multiple cases were registered, while 2,650 kites and 97 spools of string were recovered.
Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar made it clear that kite flying at any location across the province is absolutely intolerable, and in case of violations, strict legal action will be taken without discrimination. He said that in Lahore as well, Basant has been permitted only on specific days in accordance with government conditions and laws, while metallic string and illegal kite flying are completely banned.
IG Punjab directed that strict legal action should also be taken against elements involved in the online business of metallic string and kites. He appealed to parents to keep their children away from this bloody game and to discourage any illegal activities.
Dr. Usman Anwar also appealed to citizens to prove themselves as responsible citizens by immediately informing Police Helpline 15 in case of kite flying or use of metallic string at any location. Punjab Police is determined to ensure the enforcement of the law for the protection of life and properties of the public, and actions against kite flying will continue uninterrupted.
