Lahore Sessions Court Tragedy: 29th Anniversary of Police Martyrs

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar pays tribute to police martyrs

We salute the brave sons who laid down their lives in the line of duty and their families, says IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar.

Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, while paying tribute to the police martyrs on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the Lahore Sessions Court tragedy, said that we salute the brave sons who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty and their families. He said that the memory of the martyrs of the Sessions Court tragedy will always remain alive in our hearts. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar stated that Punjab Police is a force that safeguards the legacy of more than 1,700 martyrs and will never forget the eternal sacrifices of its martyrs. He added that in the protection of the country and the nation, and in the war against terrorism, every soldier of Punjab Police is performing the role of a frontline force.

Dr. Usman Anwar further said that ensuring the best welfare of the families of police martyrs is the top priority of Punjab Police, and all available resources are being utilized for the welfare and well-being of the martyrs’ families. The spokesperson of Punjab Police stated that on this day in 1997, in the tragic incident that occurred at the Lahore Sessions Court, 14 officers and personnel of Punjab Police embraced martyrdom. Those martyred in the Sessions Court tragedy included 02 Sub-Inspectors, 01 Assistant Sub-Inspector, 02 Head Constables, and 09 Constables.
