IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar Pays Tribute to the Great Sacrifice of Shaheed ASP Salman Ayaz Khan
Rawalpindi Police Officers Visit the Martyr’s Final Resting Place, Present Salute and Offer Prayers for Elevation of Ranks
On the occasion of the 20th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed ASP Salman Ayaz Khan (Sitara-e-Shujaat), Punjab Police paid a rich tribute to the martyr. Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, while acknowledging the great sacrifice of the Shaheed, stated that brave and fearless officers like ASP Salman Ayaz Khan are a shining chapter in the history of Punjab Police. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, senior officers and personnel of Rawalpindi Police visited the final resting place of Shaheed ASP Salman Ayaz Khan. A smartly turned-out police contingent presented a salute, while officers laid floral wreaths on the martyr’s grave and offered prayers for the elevation of his ranks.
The spokesperson further stated that ASP Salman Ayaz Khan was leading a police party on 17 January 2006 during an operation to arrest dangerous criminals involved in kidnapping for ransom, when he sustained critical injuries due to firing by the accused and embraced martyrdom. In recognition of his exemplary bravery, sense of duty and courageous action, he was posthumously awarded the Sitara-e-Shujaat. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the history of Punjab Police is filled with brave officers like ASP Salman Ayaz Khan. Punjab Police has always made eternal sacrifices for the protection of life and property of the nation and citizens, and this tradition will continue in the future. The sacrifices of the martyrs further strengthen the morale and resolve of the police force.
