Punjab Police Intensifies Crackdown on Proclaimed Offenders, Habitual Criminals, and Absconding Convicts

Punjab Police has continued its robust crackdown this year against proclaimed offenders, habitual criminals, and absconding convicts involved in heinous crimes. Punjab Police spokesperson provided details, that during the past two weeks, a total of 3,358 proclaimed offenders were arrested across the province, including 887 in Category A and 2,471 in Category B. More than one thousand absconding convicts were also apprehended across the province, including 82 in Category A and 921 in Category B. Punjab Police spokesperson further said that 562 habitual criminals were also arrested during this period, including 145 in Category A and 417 in Category B. During the crackdown in the provincial capital Lahore, 423 proclaimed offenders, 392 absconding convicts, and 97 habitual criminals were arrested.

Inspector General of Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar praised the performance of the police teams involved in apprehending proclaimed offenders and absconding convicts, commended them, and directed that the crackdown to arrest proclaimed offenders across the province should continue with greater intensity. Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized that dangerous criminals should be brought to justice through close coordination with complainants and effective information sharing. IG Punjab directed RPOs and DPOs to personally oversee ongoing operations for the arrest of dangerous proclaimed offenders so that law and order across the province could be further improved.
