IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar Chaired important meeting at Central Police Office

 

An important meeting was held at the Central Police Office under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, in which a comprehensive strategy was discussed for the completion of the tasks assigned to Punjab Police by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif for the year 2026. 

During the meeting, RPOs and DPOs briefed on the new year targets related to crime control, eradication of narcotics, infrastructure development and police welfare. Emphasizing Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s ‘Safe Punjab Vision’, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that abuse and violence against women and children is the red line of Punjab Police and any negligence in such crimes will not be tolerated at all. He directed police officers to pay special attention to the prompt disposal of cases related to crimes against women and children.

 

IG Punjab directed RPOs and DPOs to further intensify operations for crime control and eradication of narcotics in the year 2026. He also reviewed measures and the course of action to further enhance coordination between Traffic Police and Punjab Highway Patrol. Dr. Usman Anwar made it clear that kite flying is absolutely intolerable anywhere across the province and strict action will be taken without discrimination. He said that even in Lahore, Basant has been allowed only on specific days strictly in accordance with stringent government conditions and laws.

 

IG Punjab emphasized boosting the morale of the force through police welfare and promotions in order to improve law and order, security and public service delivery. He directed RPOs to set clear targets in 2026 to further enhance police performance and service delivery. The meeting also directed adoption of a zero-tolerance policy against corruption, misuse of authority and violation of the code of conduct, along with strict accountability of those responsible. IG Punjab said that the families of martyrs, welfare of the force and fast-track promotions will remain among the top priorities of Punjab Police this year as well. He directed special attention towards completion of Safe Cities projects, SPs Investigation offices, traffic licensing centers, driving training schools, Khidmat Markaz, and police barracks.

 

All RPOs, CPOs and DPOs participated in the meeting via video link, while Additional IG Operations Punjab, DIG Punjab Highway Patrol/CTO Lahore Athar Waheed, DIG Welfare & Finance Zeeshan Asghar, Chief Admin Officer Safe Cities Ammara Athar, AIG Logistics Muhammad Abdullah Lak and AIG Operations Zahid Nawaz Marwat were also present in the meeting.
