Major Step by IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar: 2026 Promotion Board Schedule Released

Path Cleared for Promotions in Punjab Police, Hundreds of Officers to Get Opportunities for Higher Ranks

Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has fulfilled the promise made to the force by formally announcing the schedule of Punjab Police promotion boards for the year 2026. Punjab Police spokesperson said that a large number of officers from various cadres are expected to retire during 2026, resulting in hundreds of vacant positions and extensive promotion opportunities.

The first promotion board for promotion from DSP to SP will be held in the second week of January this year, while the second promotion board for the SP rank will be convened in the third week of September. As a result of these promotion boards, more than 50 DSPs are expected to be promoted to the rank of SP. Similarly, the first promotion board for promotion from Inspector to DSP will be held in the third week of January, while further promotion boards will be conducted in May, September, and December. These promotion boards are expected to result in over 150 officers being promoted to the rank of DSP overall.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the promotion and service structure of Punjab Police officers has been upgraded, with the objective of enhancing the morale of the force and further improving performance. He instructed officers eligible for promotion to complete their service records on time in accordance with merit and rules and regulations to ensure that no obstacles arise in the promotion process.
