Punjab Police Sets Health and Welfare of Officers as Main Priority for 2026

Additional Funds Released for Treatment of Police Personnel and Their Families, IG Punjab

Under the leadership of Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, with the beginning of the year 2026, Punjab Police has continued its effective initiatives to make the health and medical welfare of the force and their families the highest priority. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has released additional funds exceeding PKR 2.5 million for the treatment of police personnel and their families. Currently, over PKR 27 million is being spent daily on the welfare of the police force and their families.

Punjab Police spokesperson provided further details, stating that ASI Ali Iqbal was given PKR 500,000 for major surgery. Head Constable Tariq Mahmood was provided PKR 450,000 for a kidney transplant. Ghazi Head Constable Altaf Hussain received PKR 300,000 for treatment of a brain tumor. Retired Inspector Zahid Khan was given PKR 200,000 for heart-related treatment. Similarly, Constables Muhammad Nasir, Liaqat Ali, and Ahmad Haider were provided PKR 100,000 each for medical treatment. Sub Inspector Shahbaz Kaleem, Retired Sub Inspector Khalid Ali, and ASI Khurram Zafar were also given PKR 100,000 each. Funds totaling PKR 475,000 were provided for the treatment of Inspector Muhammad Imran, the widow of Retired ASI Nasrullah, Retired Constable Muhammad Yaqoob, and Constable Raja Amir.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar approved the release of funds following scrutiny by the Medical Financial Assistance Committee. He further said that a total of PKR 7.5 billion was spent on the welfare of the police force in the past year. Dr. Usman Anwar added that under MOUs with various institutions, the best medical facilities are also being provided to police personnel and their families to ensure the welfare of the force to the fullest extent possible.
