IG Punjab Announces Establishment of Carewell Police Welfare Hospitals Across Major Cities
Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar chaired a meeting at the Central Police Office, in which matters related to the health and medical treatment of the police force were thoroughly reviewed. During the meeting, IG Punjab decided to significantly enhance modern and quality medical facilities for the police force in 2026 and directed that modern medical institutions, equipped with advanced facilities on the model of the Gujranwala Carewell Police Welfare Hospital, be established in all major cities. IG Punjab said that, to ensure maximum accessibility of these facilities to employees, police welfare hospitals should be established in densely populated areas. He emphasized that police welfare hospitals will provide modern and quality medical facilities free of cost to officers and their families.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar highly appreciated the establishment of the Carewell (Police Welfare) Hospital, equipped with modern laboratories and medical facilities under the supervision of former CPO Gujranwala Rana Muhammad Ayaz Saleem. He said that the Carewell Police Hospital in Gujranwala serves as an exemplary role model for other regions and districts in terms of optimal health welfare for the force. RPO Sahiwal Ayaz Saleem, while giving a briefing, shared that the Carewell Police Welfare Hospital in Gujranwala is providing free modern medical treatment to police personnel and their families in 12 different specialties. The hospital offers diagnostic and treatment facilities using the latest equipment and renowned consultants, while medical services are also provided to the general public at comparatively affordable rates.
He further explained that the hospital provides medical treatment in general surgery, gynecology, cardiology, ophthalmology, pediatrics, dental, orthopedics, general medicine, ENT, physiotherapy, psychology, and radiology. The meeting was attended by DIG Welfare & Finance Zeeshan Asghar, AIG Development Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, AIG Logistics Abdullah Lak, while all RPOs participated via video link.
