LAHORE - Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a historic promotion structure for traffic wardens and senior traffic wardens, marking a significant step to recognise their services. According to Punjab Police spokesperson, the official notification regarding the promotions has been issued on the instructions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar. Under the new system, fifty percent of promotions will be based on seniority, while the remaining fifty percent will be awarded through the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) examination. Eligible officers for senior traffic warden promotions can be up to 50 years of age, while promotion to Grade 17 traffic officer allows eligibility up to 52 years. Only officers with a transparent departmental record, completion of prescribed courses, and a minimum second division Bachelor’s degree can appear in the promotion exam. The spokesperson said the accelerated promotion plan, approved by the Punjab government, has created widespread satisfaction among traffic wardens.
