LAHORE : Punjab Police has released the performance report of its Tahafuz Marakiz for the year 2025, highlighting the effective role of the force in protecting and assisting vulnerable segments of society across the province. According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, the Tahafuz Marakiz, established in various districts including Lahore, provided protection, assistance, and rehabilitation services to marginalized groups during the year. Over 100,000 people benefited from these centers, including 45,954 women, 42,181 children, and 14,388 transgender persons. In Lahore alone, more than 10,000 individuals received support from the three operational centers in the city. The spokesperson added that a total of 38 Tahafuz Marakiz are functioning across Punjab, offering daily services to vulnerable segments of society.
Additionally, 42 transgender persons are serving as Victim Support Officers, providing priority social and legal protection to members of their communities. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar said that the Tahafuz Marakiz serve as an effective platform for the assistance and rehabilitation of women, children, transgender persons, and other vulnerable groups. He noted that outreach programs are being further strengthened to support victims of gender-based crimes, social insecurity, exploitation, and violence. The IGP added that immediate relief is being provided to victims, while practical measures are being implemented in collaboration with allied departments and welfare organizations to address the challenges faced by marginalized segments of society.
