In light of the orders of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif to make the province drug-free, Punjab Police are continuing an intensive crackdown against drug dealers across the province. Punjab Police spokesperson, while sharing details, said that during the past 24 hours, 30 drug dealers were arrested across the province and 30 cases were registered against them. During the crackdown, 39 kilograms of charas, 09 kilograms of heroin, and 01 kilogram of ice were recovered from the possession of drug dealers.
According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, during the anti-narcotics crackdown that has been ongoing for the past three weeks, a total of 1,444 drug dealers have been arrested across the province, while 1,771 cases have been registered. During this period, a total of 2,142 kilograms of charas, 62 kilograms of ice, 266 kilograms of heroin, and 25 kilograms of opium were recovered from the possession of drug dealers, while 13 drug dealers were sent to justice.
Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed that the crackdown against major drug dealers and smugglers be further intensified. He directed that all individuals involved in the narcotics supply chain should be brought to justice and awarded strict punishments.
IG Punjab further directed that actions against elements involved in drug peddling in and around educational institutions and hostels be further intensified, and strict action should also be taken against those involved in the online sale and purchase of narcotics, so that the younger generation can be protected from the menace of drugs.
