Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar on Friday chaired a meeting at the Central Police Office to review matters pertaining to the seniority, service structure and promotion mechanism of Legal Inspectors. According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, the meeting was attended by Additional IG Welfare & Finance Imran Arshad, DIG Establishment-I Suleman Sultan Rana, DIG Headquarters Dr. Muhammad Abid Khan, AIG Legal Asif Ali Sheikh and Deputy Director Registrar Humair Ahmad Qureshi. The meeting held detailed deliberations on devising a uniform framework for seniority and promotions of Legal Inspectors.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Usman Anwar said that Legal Officers constitute the backbone of Punjab Police in legal and judicial affairs. He added that improving their service structure, ensuring their welfare and enhancing their professional capacity remain key priorities of the department. The participants also discussed finalising a standardised procedure for promotions. The IGP announced that new posts of SP Legal and DSP Legal would be created to strengthen Punjab Police’s legal structure, ensure better management of legal affairs and contribute to improved overall departmental performance.
