Chairman Transporters Muttahida Action Committee, Asmat Ullah Niazi, visits Central Police Office; meets IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar

Important decisions made regarding enforcement of traffic laws and resolving transporters’ issues

No action will be taken against transporters who possess complete documents: IG Punjab

Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, met with Chairman Transporters Muttahida Action Committee, Asmat Ullah Niazi, at the Central Police Office, Lahore. DIG Traffic Punjab, Muhammad Waqas Nazir, along with senior police officers, was also present on the occasion. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the enforcement of traffic laws, issues faced by transporters, and recent developments. The IG Punjab assured the Chairman that no legal action, challan, or FIR would be registered against drivers and transporters who possess complete documentation and comply with the law.

Dr. Usman Anwar said that matters related to vehicle stands, route permit issues, toll tax, and fitness certificates will be resolved in coordination with the Transport Department and other relevant institutions. FIRs regarding the abduction of freight vehicles and theft of goods will also be registered promptly. IG Punjab informed that to resolve issues related to the Motorway, Chairman Transport Association Asmat Ullah Niazi will hold a meeting with the IG Motorways tomorrow. A follow-up meeting between the Chairman Transporters Association and IG Punjab will be held on Friday to review progress on today’s decisions. For the facilitation of transporters and prompt resolution of complaints, the police have appointed a focal person who will take immediate action on any complaint related to unjust challans, unnecessary harassment, or corruption. IG Punjab further said that the Traffic Police will extend full cooperation to the transport industry for resolving their issues and providing maximum facilitation.
