Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz orders implementation of modern traffic system and reforms

 

In line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif for implementation of a modern traffic system and reforms, Punjab Police is conducting a vigorous crackdown across Lahore and the entire province against violations of traffic laws.Punjab Police spokesperson, while sharing details, said that during the last 24 hours, 3195 individuals were arrested across the province for violating traffic laws, while 3215 cases were registered. During the operations, 12,814 vehicles, motorcycles, and rickshaws were impounded in various police stations.

The spokesperson further said that 50,480 challans were issued for traffic violations and fines exceeding 63 million rupees were imposed. Challans were issued to 3,511 smoke-emitting vehicles, 384 vehicles were impounded in police stations, while the fitness certificates of 03 vehicles were seized.

 

Across Punjab, driving licences were issued to 42,561 individuals, while during the past seven days, more than 257,000 challans and fines amounting to 203 million rupees were issued.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, while instructing to continue strict and indiscriminate actions against those violating traffic laws, said that implementation of amended traffic laws, reforms, and the modern system must be ensured at all costs. IG Punjab also directed SHOs and SDPOs to take joint measures to eliminate chaotic traffic and prevent accidents. He said that strong actions must continue against overloading, overspeeding, underage drivers, and those violating one-way rules. Furthermore, orders have been issued to take effective measures for the recovery from defaulters of traffic challans.
