Punjab Police Operations Continue to Curb Smog, Air Pollution, and Protect the Environment.

Punjab Police operations continue to curb smog, air pollution, and protect the environment. In continuation of these efforts, 15 cases were registered and offenders violating the law were arrested under the anti-smog crackdown across various districts, including Lahore, during the last 24 hours. Punjab Police Spokesperson provided details, that during the operations, fines totaling Rs. 1,013,000 were imposed on 483 individuals, while 43 individuals were issued warnings. In the last 24 hours, 280 violations by smoke-emitting vehicles, 3 violations related to industrial activities, and 8 violations by brick kilns were reported. According to the Punjab Police Spokesperson, a total of 2,911 cases were registered and 2,587 lawbreakers were arrested under the smog crackdown in various districts, including Lahore, during the current year. During this period, fines exceeding Rs. 232.1 million were imposed on 97,924 individuals, and 13,689 individuals were issued warnings. This year, 1,777 violations of crop residue burning, 59,053 violations by smoke-emitting vehicles, 1,401 violations related to industrial activities, and 2,226 violations by brick kilns were reported. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has instructed the concerned officers to further intensify the anti-smog crackdown on highways, industrial areas, agricultural sites, and other locations. He directed that strict and immediate action should be taken against those violating Smog SOPs under a zero-tolerance policy.
