Punjab Police Intensify Operations to Curb Smog, Air Pollution, and Protect the Environment.
Punjab Police’s vigorous operations to curb smog, prevent air pollution, and protect the environment are ongoing. As part of these crackdown, during the last 24 hours, 23 cases were registered under the anti-smog crackdown in various districts including Lahore, while those violating the law were arrested. Sharing details, the Punjab Police spokesperson said that a total fine of 1,354,000 rupees was imposed on 556 individuals, and warnings were issued to 46 people. In the past 24 hours, 2 violations of crop residue burning, 336 violations related to smoke-emitting vehicles, 4 industrial violations, and 6 violations related to brick kilns were reported.
Punjab Police spokesperson further said that during this year, a total of 2,749 cases have been registered as part of the anti-smog crackdown in Lahore and several other districts, while 2,422 violators were arrested. During this period, fines amounting to over 225.7 million rupees were imposed on 94,695 individuals, and warnings were issued to 13,411 people. This year, 1,762 violations of crop residue burning, 57,310 violations related to smoke-emitting vehicles, 1,489 industrial violations, and 2,158 violations related to brick kilns were reported.
Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar has directed the concerned officers to further intensify the anti-smog crackdown on highways, industrial areas, agricultural zones, and other locations. He said that strict and immediate action must be taken under the zero-tolerance policy against those violating smog SOPs.
