Security of court premises, judicial complexes, and judges’ residential areas has been enhanced, IG Punjab.
IG Punjab ordered heightened security measures across Punjab with close monitoring of terrorists and anti-social elements.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar chaired an important video link meeting at the Central Police Office to review provincial security, law and order, and other matters. IG Punjab directed that security arrangements across the province, including Lahore, be made more effective. He directed that terrorists and miscreants be kept under strict surveillance, and indiscriminate action be taken against them. He said that in view of the current security situation, the police have been put on high alert at courts, judges’ residential areas, Chinese projects, judicial complexes, and other sensitive locations.
Dr. Usman Anwar said that security of courts, judicial complexes, and judges’ residential areas has been further enhanced, while under the supervision of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), combing and search operations are being conducted at important routes and sensitive locations at an accelerated pace. Checking at inter-provincial border police check-posts, entry, and exit points has also been further tightened.
IG Punjab said that the security audit of judicial complexes, Chinese projects, and judges’ residences has been completed, while a foolproof plan has been formulated after a comprehensive review of the security of all judicial complexes. The monitoring and coverage of Safe City cameras have also been extended to all judicial complexes.
IG Punjab said that a sticker scheme for vehicles entering judicial complexes has been implemented. Special security zones have been established, and no unauthorized vehicle will be allowed to enter the court premises. Search and sweeping of judges’ routes are being carried out on a daily basis, while the effective use of security equipment at the entrances of sensitive offices and buildings is being ensured.
Dr. Usman Anwar directed officers to further accelerate the process of evacuation of illegally residing Afghan nationals and other foreigners from the province. Immediate action should be taken against violators of the Loudspeaker Act and those spreading religious hatred on social media. IG Punjab also reviewed in detail the measures taken to improve traffic management and the licensing system, reduce accidents, and provide better facilities to citizens. He said that a zero-tolerance policy should be adopted against vehicles, factory owners, and farmers responsible for causing smog by burning crop residues.
The ongoing campaign against unlicensed driving and overloading should be further intensified to ensure the safety of citizens’ lives and property.
IG Punjab said that under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, vigorous measures are being taken to make the province safe and peaceful. Punjab is gradually being transitioned to the Safe Cities model, while through mobile police stations and licensing units, citizens, especially women in remote areas, are being provided with justice and facilities at their doorstep.

CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana, DIG Traffic Punjab Waqas Nazir, DIG Operations Lahore, RPOs, and DPOs participated in the meeting via video link.
