Punjab Police Intensify Crackdown on Proclaimed Offenders, Habitual Criminals, and Court Absconders

Punjab Police’s vigorous crackdown across the province on proclaimed offenders involved in heinous crimes, habitual criminals, and court absconders continues. Punjab Police spokesperson while sharing details, said that during the current year, more than 118,000 proclaimed offenders have been arrested from across the province, including Lahore. Among them are 41,252 Category A and 77,636 Category B proclaimed offenders. Across the province, 47,495 court absconders have also been arrested, including 10,979 Category A and 36,516 Category B court absconders. Similarly, 27,221 habitual criminals have been arrested, among whom 10,962 belong to Category A and 16,259 to Category B. Punjab Police spokesperson further said that in the provincial capital Lahore alone, police have arrested 26,163 proclaimed offenders, 19,475 court absconders, and 10,514 habitual criminals.
 
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, while commending the police teams that arrested proclaimed offenders and court absconders, said that the crackdown for the arrest of proclaimed offenders across the province should continue with full intensity. He said that dangerous criminals should be brought to justice through close coordination with complainants and effective information sharing. IGP Punjab directed RPOs and DPOs to personally supervise the operations for the arrest of dangerous proclaimed offenders so that the atmosphere of peace and security across the province could be further improved and strengthened.
