During last 24 hours, 51 cases registered and violators arrested during smog crackdown in Lahore and other districts. Punjab Police Spokesperson۔ IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar orders further acceleration of the anti-smog crackdown۔
Punjab Police are actively conducting operations to control smog, reduce air pollution, and protect the environment across the province. The spokesperson of Punjab Police, while sharing details, said that during the past 24 hours, 51 cases were registered and violators were arrested during the smog crackdown carried out in Lahore and other districts. During these operations, fines amounting to over Rs. 1.067 million were imposed on 491 individuals, while 38 others were issued warnings. A total of 101 violations related to crop residue burning, 209 of smoke-emitting vehicles, and 7 of brick kilns were reported.
Punjab Police spokesperson further said that during the current year, a total of 2,275 cases have been registered and 2,027 violators arrested as a result of the smog crackdown in Lahore and other districts. During this period, fines exceeding Rs. 227.1 million were imposed on 87,780 individuals, while 11,268 were issued warnings. Reported violations included 1,166 cases of crop residue burning, 52,872 of smoke-emitting vehicles, 1,725 related to industrial activities, and 3,365 of brick kilns. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed the concerned officers to further accelerate the anti-smog crackdown on highways, industrial areas, agricultural lands, and other locations. He emphasized that strict and immediate action should be taken under a zero-tolerance policy against all those violating smog SOPs.
