On the special instructions of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, security remained on high alert across the province, including Lahore, on the occasion of Jummah-tul-Mubarak (Friday prayers). Dr. Usman Anwar directed all field officers to ensure foolproof security arrangements at mosques, Imambargahs, shrines, and other important public places. Emphasizing the vital role of minbar and mehrab in the moral and social reform of society, he said that religious institutions play a central role in promoting peace, justice, and harmony within communities. IG Punjab instructed all DPOs and senior police officers to personally visit local mosques on Fridays to review security arrangements and engage with the public. He further directed that after Jummah prayers, police officers should listen to citizens’ concerns and facilitate their resolution on the spot.
Dr. Usman Anwar noted that under the true spirit and teachings of Islam, mosques are being developed as vital centers of community engagement. He added that the role of mosques in societal reform, development, and nation-building remains indispensable. IG Punjab emphasized that senior police officers should proactively address citizens’ problems by visiting mosques and listening to their issues at their doorsteps. He also instructed that the public be made aware of the facilities and services being provided by Punjab Police for their safety and welfare.
