CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz directives: Punjab Police Intensify Action Against Electricity Theft

77,945 Cases Registered, 54,000 Suspects Arrested Across Punjab This Year: Punjab Police Spokesperson

On the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police’s crackdown against electricity thieves is continuing vigorously. Sharing the details, the Punjab Police spokesperson said that so far this year, 77,945 cases have been registered across the province, including Lahore, against electricity theft, while more than 54,000 accused persons have been arrested. Challans of 52,744 cases of electricity theft have been completed, and over 10,000 offenders involved in electricity theft have been awarded punishments and fines by the courts. In the provincial capital Lahore alone, 22,564 cases of electricity theft have been registered and 29,141 electricity thieves have been arrested. Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, while directing to continue the crackdown against electricity thieves, said that priority action should be maintained against those causing loss to the national exchequer.
