IG Punjab Orders Comprehensive Security Measures Across Lahore and the Province
Security of mosques, imambargahs, shrines, markets, and sensitive locations must be ensured. IG Punjab
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, ordered heightened security across Lahore and other parts of the province on the occasion of Jumu’atul Mubarak (Friday), stressing the need to ensure foolproof security at mosques, imambargahs, shrines, markets, and sensitive sites. IG Punjab directed that miscreants and anti-state elements be kept under strict surveillance and that search, sweep, and combing operations continue without interruption. Patrolling around mosques, imambargahs, business centers, and main thoroughfares should be further intensified. Dr. Usman Anwar said that maintaining law and order and protecting the lives, properties, and belongings of citizens is the top priority of the police. DPOs and senior police officers must remain present in the field and personally review the security arrangements. IG Punjab further directed that police officers should listen to citizens’ issues in mosques after Friday prayers. Senior officers must ensure immediate resolution of citizens’ problems by addressing them at their doorstep.
