Punjab Police intensify province-wide crackdown on metal string and kite flying
Punjab Police enforce zero tolerance for violations of Anti-Kite Flying Act across the province, including Lahore
On the instructions of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police is in action to eliminate metal string and kite flying. Punjab Police, spokesperson while sharing details, said that during the current year, 5967 accused have been arrested and 5784 cases registered for violation of the Anti-Kite Flying Act across the province including Lahore. A total of 529,814 kites and 21,301 spools of string were recovered, while challans in 5362 cases have been submitted. In the provincial capital Lahore, 1654 accused were arrested, 1620 cases registered, 35,420 kites and 1753 spools of string were recovered. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has instructed that strict implementation of the law under the Prohibition of Kite Flying (Amendment) Bill must be ensured. RPOs, CPOs, and DPOs should further accelerate the crackdown against kite flyers, kite sellers, and manufacturers. IG Punjab said that no permission will be given for this deadly activity and a zero-tolerance policy will be adopted against those involved in this bloody trade. He further said that those involved in the online business of metal string and kites should also be brought within the ambit of the law. Parents should keep their children away from this deadly game, while citizens should act responsibly by reporting kite flying at any location to 15.
