Punjab Police Remained on High Alert During Christian Worship and Prayer Services Across Churches in Lahore and the Province
On the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police remained on high alert and performed security duties during Christian worship and prayer services held in churches across Lahore and the province. Earlier, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar had issued orders to RPOs and DPOs to enhance the security of churches. He said that supervisory officers should personally inspect the security arrangements of churches and other important places. Additional police personnel and snipers should be deployed at sensitive churches, while Dolphin Squad, PRU, and Elite Force teams should ensure effective patrolling around churches. IG Punjab directed that all deployed police officers and personnel must remain extremely vigilant and keep a close watch on any suspicious or miscreant elements. Search and sweep operations around churches, Christian communities, and sensitive locations should also continue to maintain peace and order. Dr. Usman Anwar said that religious scholars, the Christian community, and members of peace committees should play their active role in promoting interfaith harmony. He further added that Punjab Police has established Mesaaq Centers for addressing the issues of the Christian community and all other minorities so that their problems can be resolved on a priority basis.
