Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision to keep the province’s atmosphere free from smog

Punjab Police intensified the actions for prevention of smog and environmental protection.

In line with Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision to keep the province’s atmosphere free from smog, Punjab Police's crackdoen for the prevention of smog and environmental protection is continue. While sharing details, the spokesperson of Punjab Police shared that during the anti-smog crackdown, a total of 562 accused have been arrested and 591 cases have been registered this year. Similarly, in the provincial capital Lahore, 40 accused have been arrested and 32 cases have been registered during the anti-smog crackdown.Punjab Police spokesperson further shared that challans were issued to more than 268,000 vehicles emitting excessive smoke on the roads, while 23,398 vehicles were impounded and fitness certificates of 272 vehicles were suspended. Inspector General Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, while ordering acceleration of the anti-smog crackdown on roads, industrial areas, agricultural and other locations, directed that strict actions under zero tolerance should continue against those violating smog SOPs.
