Punjab Police continues its efforts to address public grievances through the IGP 1787 Complaint Center. According to details shared by the spokesperson of Punjab Police, more than 112,000 complaints received at the 1787 Complaint Center have been resolved so far this year. Over 49,000 complaints related to registration of cases and more than 31,000 regarding delayed investigations have been addressed. More than 5,700 complaints related to police services, over 900 concerning departmental and other matters were also resolved. Furthermore, 6,814 complaints related to the arrest of accused persons, 12,415 concerning recovery, and 6,150 regarding poor investigations were redressed. Additionally, 3,052 complaints related to cancellation of false cases and 1,832 regarding change of investigation were resolved. Through the redressal mechanism of the 1787 Complaint Center, 1,262 abducted persons were also recovered. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that citizens should feel free to contact the 1787 Complaint Center in case of any grievance against police personnel. He further said that complaints received from the public are being addressed within the prescribed timelines according to SOPs. Monitoring of the IGP 1787 Complaint Centre has been made more active to further enhance its performance. IG Punjab directed all DPOs to personally monitor the complaints received through the 1787 Complaint System to ensure their immediate redressal.
