Drug-Free Punjab: Punjab Police intensified the Anti-Narcotics Operations across the Province.
On the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, anti-narcotics operations by Punjab Police are continuing across the province for the realization of the vision of a Drug-Free Punjab. Sharing details, the spokesperson of Punjab Police said that during the current year, 79,531 raids were conducted on drug dealers’ hideouts across the province. A total of 45,868 accused involved in drug trafficking were arrested and cases were registered against them. From the possession of the arrested accused, 27,400 kilograms of charas, 2,507 kilograms of heroin, 1,628 kilograms of ice, 2,555 kilograms of opium, and 613,753 liters of liquor were recovered. In the provincial capital Lahore, police arrested 9,531 drug dealers during anti-narcotics operations. From their possession, 4,507 kilograms of charas, 511 kilograms of heroin, 928 kilograms of ice, 288 kilograms of opium, and 53,507 liters of liquor were recovered. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed further acceleration in special operations against drug dealers and smugglers. IG Punjab directed officers to bring all accused involved in the supply chain into the grip of law and ensure that they are awarded strict punishments. Dr. Usman Anwar further said that operations against individuals involved in drug peddling around educational institutions and hostels should be intensified so that the young generation can be safeguarded from this menace.
