Punjab Police Intensified crackdown Against Court Absconders and Habitual Offenders
Punjab Police’s vigorous crackdown against proclaimed offenders, habitual criminals, and court absconders involved in heinous crimes is underway. Punjab Police spokesperson, while sharing details, said that during the current year, more than 107,000 proclaimed offenders have been arrested from across the province, including Lahore. Among these, 37,409 belong to Category A and 70,257 to Category B. It was further shared that 42,528 court absconders have also been arrested across the province, which include 9,743 of Category A and 32,785 of Category B. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, 26,299 habitual criminals have also been arrested, comprising 10,148 from Category A and 16,151 from Category B. In the provincial capital Lahore alone, 23,889 proclaimed offenders, 17,289 court absconders, and 9,691 habitual criminals have been arrested so far.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar appreciated the police teams who arrested proclaimed offenders and court absconders, and directed that the crackdown against dangerous criminals across the province be further intensified. Dr. Usman Anwar further said that through close coordination with complainants and effective information sharing, accused involved in heinous crimes should be brought into the grip of law. IG Punjab instructed RPOs and DPOs to personally supervise ongoing operations for the arrest of dangerous proclaimed offenders so that the atmosphere of peace and order across the province could be further strengthened.
