On the instructions of Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar, anti-narcotics operations are continuing across the province to achieve the vision of a Drug-Free Punjab. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, during the current year, 73,850 raids were conducted on drug dealers’ hideouts across Punjab. A total of 45,298 suspects involved in drug trafficking were arrested and cases registered against them. From their possession, 25,633 kilograms of charas, 2,381 kilograms of heroin, 1,453 kilograms of ice, 2,500 kilograms of opium, and 612,308 liters of liquor were recovered. In the provincial capital Lahore, 9,107 drug dealers were arrested, with recoveries including 4,317 kilograms of charas, 496 kilograms of heroin, 885 kilograms of ice, 273 kilograms of opium, and 52,356 liters of liquor. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed further intensification of special operations against drug dealers and smugglers. He instructed officers to ensure that all individuals involved in the supply chain are brought under the law and awarded strict punishments. He further emphasized expediting actions against those involved in drug selling around educational institutions and hostels.
