In line with Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of a Safe Punjab, Punjab Police continues successful operations against criminal and anti-state elements across the province, including Lahore. As part of this initiative, Punjab Police has conducted large-scale operations against gangs involved in heinous crimes such as murder, kidnapping for ransom, rape, robbery, and others. Sharing details, the spokesperson of Punjab Police said that during the current year, 4,254 gangs comprising 10,470 dangerous criminals have been arrested. During these operations, police recovered stolen property worth over Rs. 2.5 billion, including vehicles, motorcycles, mobile phones, gold, livestock, and cash. In addition, a large quantity of arms and ammunition was also recovered, including 1,336 Kalashnikovs, 2,298 rifles, 27,466 pistols, 2,458 shotguns, 363 revolvers, and nearly 200,000 bullets. In the provincial capital Lahore alone, action was taken against 2,141 gangs, resulting in the arrest of 4,776 criminals. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, while directing to further accelerate the ongoing operations across the province. He said that all available resources are being utilized to make the province crime-free under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He emphasized that operations against dangerous criminals will continue with a zero-tolerance policy.
