Punjab Police’s Rescue and Relief Operation in Flood-Affected Areas Continues Rapidly
Over 504,000 citizens and more than 585,000 livestock rescued and shifted to safe places from Lahore and other affected districts – Punjab Police Spokesperson
Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar has said that Punjab Police is making every possible effort to ensure the evacuation and protection of citizens and livestock in flood-affected districts. In the flood situation, Safe City’s thermal imaging technology and drone cameras are being utilized to provide full support to other departments in the rescue and relief operations. IG Punjab said that more than 16,000 officers and officials of Punjab Police, 747 vehicles, and 40 boats are participating in the rescue and relief operations. So far, police have ensured the evacuation of over 504,000 citizens from the affected districts, including Lahore.
Punjab Police spokesperson while giving details, shared that up to now, more than 217,000 men, 153,330 women, and 133,757 children have been shifted to safe places from the flood-hit areas. Similarly, more than 585,000 heads of livestock belonging to citizens have also been rescued and transported to secure locations. According to the spokesperson, during rescue operations in different regions, 160,862 people were evacuated from Multan region, 71,352 from Faisalabad region, 63,602 from Dera Ghazi Khan region, and 54,792 from Sahiwal region. IG Punjab appealed to citizens to cooperate with Punjab Police and relevant departments in the evacuation process for the protection of precious human lives.
