Punjab Police’s Non-Stop Rescue and Relief Operation, More Than 357,000 Flood Victims Safely Relocated So Far.
In view of the flood situation in rivers across various districts of Punjab, Punjab Police’s non-stop rescue and relief operation is continuing. Punjab Police spokesperson while sharing details, said that police have so far rescued and relocated more than 357,000 flood victims to safe places. Punjab Police officers and personnel have rescued and shifted to safe locations 139,655 men, 105,934 women, and 111,499 children. Police have also rescued 478,438 livestock stranded in flood-affected areas.
In the rescue and relief operation, more than 16,000 police officers and personnel are actively engaged across various districts of the province, including Lahore. Over 700 police vehicles and 40 boats are being used for the relocation of victims. Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed that timely evacuation and rescue activities in flood-affected areas must continue without interruption. He also instructed to further enhance security and patrolling in evacuation areas to protect citizens’ properties.
IG Punjab further said that flood-affected citizens taking shelter in relief camps must be provided full security along with food and essential necessities of life. Police officers have been directed to remain in constant coordination with PDMA, district administration, rescue services, and other security agencies to make the operation more effective. Dr. Usman Anwar said that police patrolling should continue regularly in villages and settlements located along riverbanks.
