Following the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police's rescue and relief operation is continuing without interruption. Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, said that the Punjab Police is working day and night for the protection and rehabilitation of flood victims. Punjab Police spokesperson, while providing details, said that police have so far ensured the evacuation of 337,826 people from flood-affected districts. This includes 131,883 men, 100,177 women, and 105,766 children. More than 488,000 livestock, valued at millions of rupees, have also been moved to safe locations. More than 5,000 people and over 900 livestock have been evacuated from the affected areas of Multan, while more than 29,400 people have been relocated to safe places in Khanewal.
IG Punjab has ordered police to remain on high alert in all affected districts across the province, including South Punjab. He said that citizens and livestock trapped in floodwaters are being traced and rescued using thermal imaging drone cameras. In the current unprecedented flood situation, Punjab Police is providing outstanding services for the rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of victims. IG Punjab said he salutes the police officers and personnel who are demonstrating extraordinary courage and bravery to save precious human lives. While directing to increase security, surveillance, and patrolling in evacuated areas, IG Punjab said that the provision of protection, shelter, medicines, food, and other necessities of life should be ensured for victims in flood relief camps. Punjab Police spokesperson said that more than 15,000 officers and personnel, over 700 vehicles, and 40 boats are participating in the rescue and relief operation.
